The Writer

The Writer

Sandra Crouch Halcott writes this blog whenever she damn well feels like it, thank you very much. There are no guarantees that this work has even been proofread, dig, so don’t go pointing fingers and gesturing at the screen in dismay or pulling out your hair. Certainly leave no comments pointing out typos or the like. This is a somewhat public vetting of the words in Sandra’s head.

She most recently studied writing at the “Writer as Witness” course in her former home, Prague, Czech Republic, with longtime mentor Max Regan of Hollowdeck Press. Do not hold Max responsible for anything you read here. It’s really not his fault.

Other workshops Sandra’s attended include:
The Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference in Vermont where she studied poetry with Carl Phillips, a Los Angeles based Method Writing class with Jack Grapes, the Naropa Summer Writing Program, courses in both Prague and Boulder, CO with poet and writing coach Max Regan of Hollowdeck Press, a Master Class with Los Angeles Poet Laurel Ann Bogen and a mini-workshop with Jerome Rothenburg in Prague.
Sandra studied poetry at the undergrad level at Westminster College with Wayne Zade, and also attended a pair of two-week intensive workshops with former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Hass. She has completed a post-graduate master class with R.M. Davis at the University of Oklahoma. Sandra is currently pursuing a master’s degree in spiritual psychology at the University of Santa Monica and writing creative non-fiction with Writers at Work.

A facilitator of popular weekly writing workshops in both Norman, Oklahoma and Prague, Czech Republic, Sandra now runs Generate, a writing program in Los Angeles. She has been published in The Vernalist, and in Windmill, University of Oklahoma Press. Her book length project is forthcoming, also when she damn well feels like it. Sheesh.
Sandra has kissed the Blarney Stone and run with the bulls. She’s also fluent in Czech and once appeared semi-naked, bald and faux-tattooed in her workplace. Sandra is proud of all these things and would not necessarily repeat any of them.Bald, Semi-naked & Faux-tattooed
